In brief, the AF seems in good step up from previous SDM
implementations. It may not be state of the art but is fairly faster

repair about a year ago. It needed a new circuit board, too, iirc...
In the end, it took about 6 weeks. (Longer than the length of time I
had owned the camera at that point.) I hope you have better luck.

last week the first thing I did was go through the Custom menu and
change stuff like this. I don't understand why the default setting is
to allow the camera to change WB when on AutoWB, but it is.

Yes, that could do it in principle, but it doesn't make sense in the
current situation. Since I _fixed_ the WB to a particular setting,
very slight changes shouldn't affect the WB.

I have some difficulties figure out exactly where the planes are in
relation to one another.
I would guess a diamond formation, but the tailsof #2 and #1
(inverted) look overlapped!
