I have that lens too and I consider it quite underrated - sure, the
zoom tends to just fall out to 250 mm when pointed down but other than
that its IQ is really not too bad given its range and size. I've taken
some shots with it that I am rather happy with as well.

the mirror bounces 1/3 of the way back up in the slo-mo video, it is utterly
imperceptible to the eye.
