J - Original Message - From: "Godfrey DiGiorgi"To: "PDML" Sent: Saturday, May 21, 2016 8:05:29 AM Subject: Re: Exposure Choices It was a misnomer … LR supports adjusting the overall exposure in the range of +/- 5 EV total. That means that if you have a 'ISO-less' sensor, in other words, a sensor where the ISO settings on the camera are implemented by just biasing the captured data by an EV offset. For example, if the native ISO of the sensor is 200, you can achieve up to an effective ISO 6400 with it using Lightroom. I tested this with the Leica M9 and it worked perfectly; useful on that camera because the on-camera ISO setting is limited to ISO 2500. However, it means that you can't really see what you're doing, exposure-wise, with the review function on the camera, and I didn't find anything particularly better about the quality of the output images—they looked identical to using the ISO setting on the camera. Oh Paul, thanks for the lovely cardinal photos. My wife goes nuts over cardinals. She would not give me back my Ipad until she had poured over half of your portfolio looking for more. Re: Exposure Choices
It was a misnomer … LR supports adjusting the overall exposure in the range of +/- 5 EV total. Re: PESO 2016 - 093 - GDG
Thanks Christine! How do you like the presentation? It's tricky to scan these prints due to the very glossy surface, I haven't gotten that down pat just yet. I'm also juggling with the notion of presenting them with the classic Polaroid paper border, as I did here, or just the image area as a square. With a white paper border, I tried my usual thin black border with this one to offset it with the white mat area but it seemed a little heavy-handed. So I want to this light shadow surround. Fun stuff. I love these cameras and their unique imaging feel. They're almost the antithesis of today's modern, razor crisp imaging. usw, G > On May 21, 2016, at 7:27 AM, Christine Aguilawrote: > > That’s fun. Made me giggle. Re: Some people are just crazy
Totally agree with John about need of context. It scares me is how people are willing to ignore the context given by the photographer, and replace it with one that resides in their warped minds. I think it is a good photo. I like the way it conveys the child's exhaustion, and the way it conveys the father's support. Literally by just leaning to the wall in a strenuous posture, which probably is for the benefit of the photographer, but still. Don't know if personal appeal is the right word, but the shot makes me feel sorry for both child and father.
