Re: digitizing 8mm film with K1?

Not so much ill-suited but for every minute of film you'll put about 1500
exposures on your shutter. An hour and a half's film would pretty much wear the
camera out.

As it should...

One they missed in North Queensland is Yorkey's Knob, just a bit north
of Cairns.

We stayed there a few years ago but I never met Yorkey - possibly just
as well.

Truck drivers have always enjoyed a mouthful of Yorkie. "Good, rich and thick,

An apology for those who love to see not only a Pentaxian but
literally a Pentax behind the image:
It is so easier to carry the GXR while walking than any of my Pentax
gear, except for the 110, for which I even have some film.
Unfortunately, there is practically nowhere home to process it. If I
had not broke the chain of my Pentax 67 due to a momentary lapse of
mind (AKA stupidity), I might have been showing you a (film) portrait
today. I will be using it with or without the chain, soon...

Re: PESO -- The Red Boat.

2016-11-24 Thread P.J. Alling

I've thought about the suggestions that I received and well, maybe.

The wooden construction is the remains of an erosion control jetty, they
were made out of various materials, the earliest seem to have been of
wood or stone, though there were later ones of wood as well. The middle
period, say from the 1930's to the 1960's were made of steal or iron,
those have fared the worst and most have almost completely rusted away.
Most places, trying to control beach erosion has fallen out of favor, so
few are now being built and few of the existing ones are being
reconstructed.

Paul is correct, the price for this lens jumped up some time in spring.

And PF deals page shows that the last price during last year's Black

Re: digitizing 8mm film with K1?

No, it's not a good idea. A DSLR is ill suited to the task of movie film
transfer. There are machines that transfer film quickly and efficiently, as
well as hundreds of companies that offer the service.

I think there are two pictures here. If the picture is cropped just below
the small white buoy, this gives a diagonal to the red boat and makes it the
subject of the picture. What is left below with the interesting beach
foreground and the old landing stage leading into the water, makes an
interesting abstract.
