I'll stick with a notebook or a voice-recorder (or voice-recording app on the 
phone…). 

But actually, I almost never care what the settings were after the fact anyway 
… I remember them most of the time without any recording or EXIF data to poke 
at. :)

Ah, good! I'm glad they helped you sort it out. 
A bad update/install-over … It's rare but it does happen. 

I just couldn't figure out what OS you were updating and to what; macOS Ventura 
is v13.x (I'm on macOS Ventura v13.2 at present with a 2018-2019 Mac mini 
i7-six core).

Thanks for replying!

Problem solved in a long call with Apple support. It seems something mutated in 
the OS, so we re-installed it.

It’s an M1 Mac mini, running Ventura. The old Mac mini turned belly-up a couple 
of months ago.

Have you powered it off and then back on again? (To force any Mac to power off 
if the menu isn't working, just hold down the power button for about 10 seconds

OS 11 --> Weird problem

I wonder why now, but I upgraded this computer from OS 10 to 11 yesterday.

It was a mistake.

The main problem is that clicking in the menu bar now does nothing. Do I want 
to quit Mail after finishing this message? Tough luck. Do I want to use any of 
the other menu bar functions? Too bad.

Anyone having a similar problem? Anyone have a fix?
