Hi Jan

I've checked the mail server and there's no sign of any submission received from
you - so not sure what happened.

If you want to send me the usual info about the image, I'm happy to add it.

Hi Brian,

Well, that seems to have happened this time.

I sent in a Lioness with cub, in golden-hour light, on the 21st of January, and
I’m pretty sure I got a confirmation, but no show …

The same image is in my own gallery, should be visible at:

   https://dfsee.com/gallery/lr/pugnew/content/K3307716_large.html

I may have used my jvw.dfsee email address at gmail to send it, like I did
without problem for the previous two months too.

It certainly has and I've used it at times. Much like perfume or

Nothing wrong with using it as an effect like solarisation or multiple
exposure, but cranking each and every photo through HDR, often combined
with grossly overdone colour saturation, soon becomes boring.

It’s been an unusually warm winter in Philadelphia, but it was still surprising
to find flamingos in the park across the street.

They must have been unwell, because they were smooth and shiny and didn’t move.

Re: IR camera conversion

2023-02-09 Thread Mark C
I had my K01 converted to IR a few years ago. I sent it to Isaac Szabo and did
a great job. He also converted a Nikon P6000 for me many years ago.

https://www.isaacszabo.com/infrared.html

I opted for the 720nm filter. Check out his fish photos while at that website.

In terms of lenses, the humble DA 18-55mm kit lens is very good in terms of not
having an IR hotspot. Both the original version and the updated WR version work
well, and despite being inexpensive optical quality is pretty good. My most
used lens with this setup, though, is the D FA 15-30 f2.8. No IR hotspot and
optical quality is excellent. My DA 16-45 f4 has a terrible hotspot and the DA
17 - 70 was only marginally better. Haven't tried out many other lenses.

Here;s a little flickr collection of shots with the K01:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/organize/?start_tab=new_set

I also have an IR converted K-10D. I bought it already converted. With a DSLR,
you really need to meter through live view for accuracy with IR, the meter in
the pentaprism is not sensitive to IR light, and while it can be re-calibrated,
it won't be as accurate as metering off the sensor.

Good luck,

Mark C

Well, most of those are utterly dreadful. And having been to Plitvice Lakes
National Park, I have to say that the image bears no resemblance whatsoever to
the place I was at. I would also say it would be quite difficult to take a bad
unmodified image of the place. It is that scenic. Have a look at the Wiki
photos.
