The Mz-S drains batteries when it is simply left on, even if it is not being
used. A few days in the bag with the switch simply set to the 'on' position

Very cool stuff - respooling 120 to 620 is no problem, and if you have a
620 spool for the take up reel you can usually get away with just cutting

Your experience seems to be different - though, what is the aperture of the
DA 16-45? Maybe you are just seeing the results of more DOF than you get at
f 1.7 and f 4 with the FA 1.7 ???

that does for
exposure /aperture settings - the other Pentax TC's do not convert aperture
data to the effective aperture, and I've used them without problem in the
past.

to doing that (it still had _some_ juice in it because
it could power the LED on the car adaptor for the X's drive.) Are lead acid
batteries ruined if they are completely discharged? What if they are almost
completely discharged? :-0
