Re: OT. OM-5 first impressions

It seems that I'm not the only one, it may be that it works differently in
video mode

I did put another 500 frames on it yesterday on a hike in Malibu Creek Park.
I'm starting to get a bit more comfortable with it. And it is a damn sight
easier to carry than the k1.

lower noise at higher iso by doing some processing on the raw that reduces

Re: Pentax K3-iii Monochrome

2023-04-13 Thread lrc
I don't think it is firmware on this one, I think it comes down to the response
of the silicon since it doesn't have a Bayer filter. You would have to choose a
color filter when shooting, just as with black and white film.
I could make all sorts of technical arguments against it, but it's really just
a marketing choice.

Speaking of the k3 III I have found a major frustration with mine being there
is no way to get the old RGB histogram view, if you want the histogram, you get
all sorts of nonsense that is only useful when shooting jpeg, in other words,
useless, and the histogram and preview image are both too small to be useful.
It also only has the combined RGB histogram rather than three separate ones.

Last night I tried the Ricoh image sync software. With just a little bit of
effort they could have made the software completely useless, they only
succeeded in making it mostly useless.

Design by Hotblack Desioto

2022-09-20 Thread lrc
Sounds great off you want to photograph a disaster area concert

The K-3 Mark III JET BLACK Edition is a limited-edition, special design model
that has all the features and specs of the standard K-3 Mark III in a sleek
all-black finish.
With its unique monochromatic design, the PENTAX logo, SR logo and indicators
on the mode dial are in black, while the K-3 Mark III logo and operation parts,
such as the markings on 4-way key on the back of the camera body are in
charcoal black. This color allows the markings to remain inconspicuous but can
be easily seen by adjusting the light.

By paying close attention to details, the K-3 Mark III JET BLACK Edition is a
true black body that blends into the darkness yet stands out in the crowd.
