Course Announcement:
In the Spring Semester 2001 I will be teaching a graduate
course on the internet about Marx's method. Since I
consider Roy Bhaskar's Dialectical Critical Realism to be the
best modern introduction to the method Marx was using, this
course will have Bhaskar's book

extensive kidnapping of children, practised by capitalists in the
infancy of the factory system, on workhouses and orphanages, by means
of which robbery, unresisting material for exploitation was procured.
I think it is on p. 406 in the MECW edition of Capital.

to be here. We can also only fund 4 graduate
students each year, but we get some quite radical ones.
Unfortunately the Department is slowly being starved out.
We have a bunch of old radicals from the Vietnam War area,
and the big test will be what happens when they retire in 10
years or so.

this email is a trial baloon to see if there is interest in
such a thing at all.

As a member of the spoon collective I thought I should be the one to
forward this announcement to Pen-l. I would be happy to answer your
questions about it privately or, if there is enough interest, also on
list. Hans Ehrbar.

Are the date from Shaikh and Tonak's book *Measuring the Wealth of

For a text for a book on capitalism and socialism, Al Campbell and I
have had very good success with assigning the book by Paul Cockshott

of the constant part of capital in comparison
with the variable part
is confirmed at every step (as already said in the earlier development)

I suspect the invasion in Haiti will happen much sooner than what one
hears in the news as of this morning, and, although I think some of
you disagree, it is my conviction that the Left should vigorously
oppose it. To the very least it is our responsibility to discuss now
whether we should.
