Mohammad Parvin,

It is for some time now that there is a "Persian Trans." keyboard layout available for Macintosh platform. I was sure that similar thing in form of a driver should be available for Windows for much longer time. But I did some search and unfortunately I didn't find any (not with this name anyhow) I'm sure if there is anything, Roozbeh knows about it.
But I found something that might be of your interest. Go to this page:
http://www.alanwood.net/unicode/utilities_fonts.html
You'll find quite a few utilities regarding keyboard management and layout creation.

While we are on this subject, Persian Transliteration keyboard layout is a convenient way to type Persian for those who are familiar with language but don't have Persian schooling background (of Iranian decent or whatever) but for those with Persian schooling background, I believe learning the standard keyboard layout is a much better option and learning its layout on an English marked keyboard is not more difficult than Persian Trans. layout at all. Since we all eventually learn to touch type, it really doesn't matter what is marked on the keyboard because we won't look at the keyboard anyway.

Persian Trans. has an easier "kick start" but when it comes to mastering Farsi typing, the effort and practice time isn't any shorter. We all should go through the pain of mastering a keyboard layout. Why not choosing the standard one which is much more rewarding?

Cheers,
Behnam

Dear Mr. Pournader:

I would appreciate if you would send me some instruction as to how to change the Persian keyboard layout mapping in XP windows to a layout that corresponds to English layout (For example A will be Aleph, or B will be "be").

Thank you.
