Ldap utils including 'ldapsearch' won't bind to the server. The message is 'unable to contact server (-1)'. >Use slapd -d 256 to see what the server is getting from phpldapadmin. I did that and there are no messages from 'slapd' leading me to conclude that the server is not contacted. An interesting experiment that I did was that I downloaded another tool called http://ldaptool.sourceforge.net/ LDAP Explorer Tool which is an application and is not 'php' based. This tool is able to connect properly to the ldap server using the same 'dn'. Even though this tool does connect, I found it unsuitable especially for non-programmer users and I prefer to use 'phpldapadmin'. I also downloaded another 'php' based ldap tool called http://yala.sourceforge.net/ Yala and this tool exhibited the same problem as 'phpldapadmin' leading me to think that there is an issue with 'php' or the ldap extension within 'php'. What do you think?
