Hi Philippe,
Painting the inside of your camera black (or using
black paper) will definitely reduce the amount of
scattered light in your camera. You could avoid
scattered light reflecting off the inside of your
pinhole by using a non-reflective material. I've
heard of people using silver shim
I just want to say thank-you to all the people on this
list who freely share their experience and knowledge
of pinhole photography. Although I do not frequently
post questions, I am always impressed by how other
people's questions receive immediate and thorough
answers. A few days ago I used our
Hi everyone,
While we're still talking about darkroom chemistry...
just wondering if anyone has tried using vinegar as a
stop bath in the darkroom. Obviously there would be
no colour change when the pH gets too high, but I
don't process large volumes of prints at any given
time so I can't see
In the past I have thought of ways to enlarge paper
negatives, but never got around to it (I just decided
to build cameras that will take bigger paper
negatives).
One idea that I did have was to use a special
projector that can project images from opaque
sources. These projectors really exist,
Aren't we pinholers a diverse group of people! Some
of us hobbyists, some of us professional
photographers, yet all interested in the same medium.
I have contributed to the list once or twice, but I
guess I'd like to re-introduce myself: I'm 25 and
live in Toronto. No formal training in
Hi Joel,
I read your message on the list regarding what size
drill bits to use to make your pinholes. Personally
I've had great success making my pinholes out of
aluminum from pop cans (or soda cans if you prefer).
The aluminum is very thin, not to mention cheap and
plentyful.
I use a sewing
Thanks to David Ocampo for brining up this
interresting topic. I think the discussion of whether
artists should be true to their medium or whether we
should embrace new technology applies to us pinholers
because many of us are taking a minimalistic approach
to a technologically advanced medium:
Just wondering... what is the average return rate for
a pinhole swap group? For example, if 20 people agree
to exchange photographs and, say, only 10 people
actually mail their photos, is this an average return
rate? This is, of course, a hypothetical situation.
In unrelated news, thanks to
The best way to figure out what would happen if you
used a fibre optic pinhole would be to just make one
and see what happens.
For those of us who are curious how fibre optics work,
here's what I understand: (Sorry if this all sounds
technical, but even pinhole photography must obey the
laws
A few minutes ago my email program did something
screwy, so this may be my second submission on the
same subject.
The subject was posted a week ago: designing a curved
film plane camera that doesn't have to be changed in a
darkroom after every exposure. One camera that I've
made is actually
Edward,
There are lots of things you can do once you've
mastered the basics of pinhole. Since you've gotten
this far you probably understand the priciples of
photograpy and physics (as far as light is concerned).
I recommend you begin experimenting with these
principles. By manupulating the
