I have had good luck with making cameras out of white PVC pipe and fittings,
painting them flat black makes them suitably opaque. Of course, this would
not work for developing tanks, as the chemistry would probably deteriorate
degree PVC cam!

Yes, black ABS is the best way to go. You can order a length of it from
any
ACE hardware store. A ten foot section cost me 9.95 last week.
