[SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien 1.06 won't play WMA on linux

2006-10-07 Thread Ramage
WMA tracks will not play on Softsqueeze using Linux This problem has been reported before - http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=25117, and is due to a problem on mplayer.sh. There are 2 solutions, both given by bpa on thread 25117 post #7 if you use Mplayer pre8, or by modifying

I don't know the numbers very well but I think [EMAIL PROTECTED] is normally good enough for FLAC so if you selected only MP3 for RTSP streams and you are getting choppy audio then the problem is probably not simple signal strength. A better description of choppy audio would help especially

The issue was discussed for 1.06 but no definitive comprehensive solution was agreed and so it is still on the AlienBBC buglist and is not forgotten. The solution suggested has its own drawback - I think it can stop users playing RealAudio files. -- bpa

Check your JVM version. Not sure what system you're on but at the command prompt of your OS, type 'java - version'. It should report a version of 1.5.*. If not go to Sun's website java.sun.com and download their latest non-beta JVM at this level. -- peejay After Silence, that which comes

[SlimDevices: Plugins] SlimScrobbler doesn't submit when using SoftSqueeze?

2006-10-07 Thread jmpage2
I've recently upgraded to Slimserver 6.5 and installed the newest versions of the SlimScrobbler and LastFM plugins. I've noticed that my track submissions for Last.FM don't appear to be working for tracks played on the SoftSqueeze. Is this known behavior or is this a bug? Did a search and came

2006-10-07 Thread srasher
I am currently thinking about the same problem. My idea to solve this is to do a little enhancement to the SlimScrobbler code: - the library includes multiple genre tags - additional to the musical styles all tracks have genre tags for Sebastian (= husband) and/or Katja (= wife) - therefore it

bpa 'Choppy' covers a few things. First, listening to BBC4FM, there are little pops and clicks in the stream - tiny breaks that clip off a consonant or a syllable in a word; but not enough to interfere seriously with intelligibility. Then there are much rarer breaks of a few seconds, when the

Part of your problems sounds like a problem with the stream from the BBC since it affects the live stream much more than Listen Again. You could test this by using mplayer direct in your PC to the same source. By their very nature, the live streams cannot buffer data in case of network errors,

If you are based in the UK you could try these URL - they are BBC Live using WMA not RealAudio streams. WMA will be handled by SB directly and may handle network problems differently. As I am outside the UK they do not work for me but I believe they are very very slow to start up. If they
