The musicbrainz step is because a query that isn't optimized good enough yet, it has nothing to do if you have musicbrainz tags or not. The performance varies, sometimes it's fast sometimes it's slow, it's the same in my setup. I'm not sure if it's related to caching, defragmentation of SQLite
