Oddly enough an uninstall/reinstall of SqueezeCenter did the trick.

Hmmm, my install is pretty vanilla. Is there any chance this is related
to the fact that I'm running the 64-bit version? I typically don't
consider that, esp with Perl stuff.

Argh thanks. I'll do a fresh install of SuSE 11+SC72 and see if
anything changes. I swear the only difference between that and my
current environment is that I originally had 7.1 and upgraded. This
server was reinstalled mere weeks ago...

PowerSave is my only plugin. I'll get those logs when I get back to my
PC.
What directory SHOULD those PM/XML/TXT files be in? I just dumped them
all in /user/share/squeezecenter/Plugins.
