Argh, I'm having this issue as well. This seems to be related to the
fact that my squeezebox server and NAT router have separate public IPs.
But my server also has a connection to the local network. I suppose I
could come up with some firewall rules to route
versions aren't hard to find. Many of them you
don't even need to find, they come built-in.
I highly recommend giving Ubuntu a try. :)

Yes, I have an older RX-V995a. I use a standard 1/8 headphone to
headphone cable to connect my transporter (also worked when I had a SB3
attached).

Looks nice so far. Clicking the folder icon from the playback interface
causes it to crash on my G1.

SqueezeCenter is written in Perl. AFAIK all plugins are written in
Perl.

I was looking into a G1 program called TunesRemote.
http://dacp.jsharkey.org/
I was thinking if it were possible to implement a DACP to Squeezecenter
translator plugin, it would be simple enough to attach iPhones and
android-based devices to Squeezecenter.

I use SoftSqueeze all the time on Ubuntu.
The easiest way to make it work is to follow the directions to install
Sun Java (it doesn't work with the GNU java)

it every startup. When you cloned the settings, it
probably copied the preferences file for softsqueeze in your user
account.
Yup, I found it:
/Users/username/.java/.userPrefs/org/titmuss/softsqueeze/prefs.xml
Delete this file on the laptop, and it should work again.

thoughts?
That's pretty cool. I think Net::SlimServer::Remote would be ok,
although I'm no authority :)

commands. I havn't looked at the code recently, but it could be

Each device would have to run something like NTPd to sync up their

15-20 watts. Especialy with the LCD turned off. It would require a
minor ammount of tweaking to do things like not go into sleep mode with
