I have LMS 8.0.0 on my Pi (Buster). I upgraded IO:Socket::SSL to 2.068
but everything is OK. OpenSSL is 1.1.1d.

The OnAir text is current track/program info for live streams and is
retrieved from the RadioPlayer siet as
Looking through the log you posted.
I didn't appreciate how many BBCOnAir messages were sent - normally
failure would mean one attempt every 30 secs but it is non-stop. Not
sure if this is also a bug.
The rapid and frequent try & fail would definitely load the processor.
The other messages

OK - "normal" way to install IO::Socket::SSL via packages

Are you using Raspbian ?
I have used a "Vanilla" setup on my pi (everything defaults, normal apt
update & upgrade) and I can only get IO::Socket::SSL V2.060 ?
How did you get V2.068 ?

If no more BBCOnAir messages - then https is NOT your problem and

Release notes for BBCiPlayer V1.6.10
- Bug fix so that older SB player UI VFD type displays show live track
/ program information on 2nd line when no other UI (e.g. WebUI on same
player) is open. This bug was introduced in 1.6.9.
- Small feature. Finer control over which max DASH stream data

This is not a BBCiPlayer plugin issue. Make it a general topic in the
General Discussion forum and you'll get a wider audience who can
probably help.

The implementation doesn't work as you think. Plugin fetches metadata
V1.3 - Small fixes to RadioNet plugin. Radionet plugin is available
through LMS 3rd party repository - V1.3 will become available when LMS
repo is updated.
- After a Search - fix the "unable to parse" error when looking at page
2,3,etc of search
- No need to restart LMS after changing

OK you got a point - that is trying to display relevant program info
with the estimated time stamp of the playing stream -
slartibartfast wrote:

This is only relevant for DASH and the audio stream and is related to
fetching a timepoint in DASH stream . Not actually waiting.
For LMS after 7.9.0, this setting is now redundant (except maybe for
old Windows

Doing a little more checking.
The BBC rms.api.bbc.co.uk URL which provides the track info - is a
https only service.
The 1.6.9 version of the plugin changed to only use a https URL
If the OP's https support in OS, LMS and SSL libraries is not up to date
- then no track info will be
Followup - web player is still using the feed that Plugin uses. So not
sure what I saw a few months ago.
If anybody want to check trackinto - the URL for R3 is - JSON output but
readable using a browser .
If track info current then "now_playing" will be "true"
It is a https URL.

Besides https - some sites use time with cookies, non standard

I think nowadays a lot of services expect the system time to be close to
accurate.
I've seen a user have problems with some services due to the system time

Lot of people using Pis use a GPIO pin+board to turn/off amps.
There are Google Home / Alexah alternatives using a wifi enabled socket
but depends on the brand. For example I did a simple plugin for TP-link

yes but there are at least 4 possible HLS variants to carry MP3 - the

It seems to be very odd, even with a slow datalink to the player that a

since complete program available LMS will send Mbytes of data to the

As a test to see fi bit rate fixes drop-outs, HLS URLs can be used to
