after a brief reading on internet. One way is to compile the old libhid
package. But i did;nt have any success to do that on raspbian buster.
On pcp repository yoy can find the libusb package.

No point - the source code of shark2 needs to be changed significantly
to work with either libusb or libhidapi.

Just an update, I found a radioSHARK2 on ebay and I just got it working
on Windows Home Server 1.
This is not a custom built WHS box like the one of the previous posters
but an Acer easySTORE, so I did not have the option of hooking up a KVM,
but it worked!

products vendors stopped making new products about 5 years ago. New
products only address digital radio such as internet, DAB and DVB but
even now it is hard to find USB DAB products.

I've been using the RadioShark (2) for a couple weeks, and the sound
quality seems fine; and surprisingly, this signal is the only one that
will nearly-sync with my PC's SoftSqueeze 3.9b1. :)
My problem is that the signal consistently cuts out to re-buffer. Each
morning, my alarm
Radioshark feeds a WAV stream direct into SBS which then by default
converts it into Flac to send to players.
Itt sounds like network interference and that coupled with need to
encode the stream may result in rebuffering. Other possibility is that
there is some other task on the server which
I was able to snap open the RS2 case, by pulling the rubber cover off
the base, removing the single screw and carefully prying the case open.
One open, the antenna connections were different from what I had seen
pictured of the RS1. Armed with a coax antenna feed from my attic
mounted FM

install methods tried and why the KVM method is needed.
It is good to know that USB audio devices work on WHS. So it seems the

I found a long USB extension lead to get RS2 away from PC is useful for
reception as PC are often hidden away.
To use external antenna all you need is a cable inserted into headphone
socket of RS2. I tested the external using a standard audio cable ( I
think with 2.5mm plug) and with one end

TV/phone and LAN cabling. Telephone punchdown block, coax distribution
amp, cable modem, gateway/router, VOIP adapter, ethernet switches etc

environment you are living (e.g. US Urban/high density, US Rural,

The plugin does not require any version of .NET. Since WHS has all
audio support removed - that is probably what is causing the exception
problem.
I think you should google to see if anybody has hacked in audio
support. Audio support is not .NET support.

.NET 1.1, WHS says it's akready installed and kicks out of the
installation. However, control panel reports .NET 2.0 SP2, 3.0 SP2 and
3.5 SP1, only; no 1.1. Quick Google searches indicate .NET 1.1 is
incompatible with WHS.
I do not know what hardware changes between RS and RS2 but there is a
s/w change and the support EXEs used by the application only work with
an RS2. The s/w difference is small so although it should not be hard

First, RadioShark blue LED is always on as soon as I plug it in USB

So, in SBS advanced settings for RadioSHARK player I choose Red LED on
while radio
Since the led doesn't change then either
* plugin is not running properly
* shark2 is not setup correctly.
To check shark2 settings please get a listing of current setting by
doing something like
ls -l Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/SharkPlay/Bin/shark2
Then copy output to a post.

The Cache name depends on your installation and varies nu distro, OS
and user settings - that is why I wrote something like

yes, I am running all the install tests as root and not logged in as
the same user which runs SBS. I suppose this user is squeezeboxserver
but I dont't know the password.
