current BBC issues aside, just installed the BBC IPplayer plugin on a
new server
I did this by selecting the plugin from the 3rd party list, clicking
enabling and allowing the server to do a restart.
Problem is it just repeats the statement on reboot that the plugin needs
updating, I click to
even the 128k MP3 Shoutcast streams are buffering every 30 secs today,
looks like the server is getting hammered

I have a couple of Jogglers running Squeezeplay. since I have so much
screen real estate I'd like to have the Album covers large when browsing
the library.

well its underfunded depending on what you think it should be doing.
personally I think its worth my fee for the Radio alone, but I struggle
with it pushing more an dmore towards populist content and the expense
of anything not already done by other channels

there was some discussion in Parliament last week about the license fee,
the end result was that whilst they are carrying on as is for now, they
aknowledged it doesn't have a long term future
I reckon the BBC are looking to a number projects to secure content
ahead of the inevitable pay to view
before the current BBC debacle I'd been listening using the inbuilt
Tunein radio facilities
Whilst BBIplayer and the HLS plugin in significantly better quality one
thing I miss is the artwork and show details that I used to (and still
do on the crappy mp3 stream) get on the Tunein stream.

LMS is running on an I5 with 3 Gig Ram using Vortexbox at the moment as
I'm in the process of swapping some architecture around
it ran fine last week on that hardware, you coudl be right as more
people have fixed something to get to the HLS streams maybe its
overloading

I'm using several jogglers with the birdslikewires squeezeplay OS
obviously Jivelite runs the Joggler Skin. I'd like to update these with
Michaels PIGridSkin however I'm at a a loss on how exactly to do this as
there is no change skin menu item on the Squeezeplay OS

so far Material skin running in a dedicated browser on android seem
faster and better than any of the dedicated control apps out there for
Android.
the only snag so far is that it doesn't show any controls when the
tablet is locked, unlike the dedicated apps.

as I mentioned in a previous question material is fast becoming my
favourite control interface
I have a number of touchscreen control points running Jivelite, I'd like
to replace them with and android tablet running material as the control
interface for the SB player in that room. However I'd
running material skin in several places and all display the time in
24hour format.
I fi run Material in a browser on my PC is shows 24 time.
However if I run Squeezelite X on that same PC it insists on using 12
hour time.
is this a bug or is there a setting I'm missing to change this?

just been experimenting with a USB HID volume knob
if an alarm goes off, just mute with teh knob or turn teh volume down.
when teh next alarm comes along it does indeed overide the knob settings
with whatever volume the alarm is set for. Even if you muted it
so seems to work.

never been a fan of the way LMS does synchronisation as its too fiddly
to setup and tear down. I assume that's whats drove Phillippe to write
this in the first place..

use. When coupled with material, it makes jivelite
I think BPA's point was you don't need to if you use a rotary encoder

I've been thinking along similar lines. What I'd really like is a rotary
controller than can be configured as HID device in the same way FLIRC
does for IR.
You could then assign any keyboard shortcut to it such as kill alarm
in my head I'd then build a TouchPI latest gen case with a speaker
random musing of the day

and squeezelite on the same box I figured I'd build on Raspbian Buster
from scratch
All is working fine with one notable exception, when i plug a keyboard
in the only shortcut that works is the space bar for pause.

just setup a new box with material skin and i notice there's a transfer
queue option on the settings menu. It doesn't exist on the mobile skin,
any particular reason for that? also is that utilising the Music Walk
with me plugin or is this a Material specific thing?

might be we are at cross purposes.
there is an icon bar in queue view and it does indeed have an icon with
2 opposing arrows for transferring the queue
however i'm taking about a menu item on the 3 dot dropdown where
settings and information are shown. In desktop view I also have a
transfer
in android defiately

if you want the solution to cope with passing through DTS HD or Dolby
True HD or Atmos Audio it gets much more awkward as not many apps pass
through the signal in my experience.
Kodi or Plex on a dedicated NUC (or similar) are the only ways I've
found to get full HD audio passthrough. Of the
Kodi would do it, but my experience is that even the Pi4 is underpowered
for 180p full bit rate blu ray rips, and the interface is not as slick
as it could be

Airplay bridge works fine but so far sync is not great. Though I concede
