Muter-muter pakai piring terbang, ke bulan cuma 6 jam

Kawans,
masih jadi tanda tanya besar. Buat sebagian orang, mereka cuma
sekadar penampakan.

menyempurnakannya menjadi hanya 5 menit? Lagi-lagi ini sebuah tantangan
buat kita semua.

Mustinya,
langkah-langkah yang dilakukan NASA tak bikin kita jadi minder. Tak bikin
kita patah semangat. Tapi memacu kita untuk dapat selangkah, bahkan
seratus langkah lebih maju.

Nah, ini tantangan buat kita semua orang Indonesia! Kenapa para ahli
aeronautika kita kok melempem? Bikin pabrik helikopter saja kok malah
bangkrut, padahal cuma 'tukang jahit'.
menghabiskan energi, mending bikin 'moter' (mobil terbang).
dirilis).

Membuat mobil terbang tak susah kan? Lagian biayanya tak sebesar
merancang piring terbang, toh bisa pakai mobil bekas. Syukur-syukur
bisa kerjasama dengan perusahaan otomotif. Saya prediksi, 'moter' akan
jadi trend di tahun 2050-an.

martabat bangsa Indonesia. Kalau kita bisanya cuma mengkonsumsi produk-
budaya. Jadi, kita sebetulnya belum merdeka 100%, bung!

Salam Merdeka!

FLYING SAUCERS
Flying saucers - fact or fantasy? Whatever your opinion, new saucer
designs could be set to send us into space.

Since the age of the 1950s B-movies, flying saucers have been the
vehicle of choice for any discerning alien. Looking like a cross
between a metal hubcap and a glow-in-the-dark frisbee, these strange
spacecraft have fascinated us for decades. Whether you accept Area 51
or reject the Roswell Incident, there's still a chance you may see a
flying saucer in the not too distant future. However, rather than
carrying extra-terrestrials from other planets, the saucer could be
transporting you round the Earth or even to the Moon.

Lightcraft
The 'Lightcraft' is the latest in alternative spacecraft design and
has been built by Leik Myrabo of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Powered by infrared lasers, the shiny surface reflects and focuses
this laser beam into a ring. The surrounding air heats up to a
temperature 5 times hotter than the surface of the Sun and then
explodes, thrusting the saucer forward. The advantage of this power
system is that the Lightcraft doesn't need to carry onboard fuel; the
laser light could be beamed up from Earth. However, before you start
booking yourself in for a spin, the ship is only 15cm across and
climbs just 30m in three seconds.

Drawbacks of the Lightcraft
Currently, the craft is very small and noisy, but NASA has drawn up a
design plan for a 20m microwave-powered saucer, carrying up to 12
people to the Moon in just six hours. The power supply would be
harvested by solar panels, housed on a lunar orbiting power station.
After converting this solar energy into microwaves, these waves would
be beamed straight to the Lightcraft to power its lunar trip. Once
the saucer nears its destination, the crew would have to slow the
ship down by steering through a series of ring-shaped electromagnets
on the Moon, before touching down on the lunar surface.

Outlandish it may sound, but the scientific principles behind the
craft have already been demonstrated and the technologies are within
reach. However, only the brave would take the test flight. The crew
on the prototype craft would need to be encased in liquid-filled
escape pods to protect them from the extreme G-forces they would
experience.

Our best bet for travelling deeper into space is to get out the cosmic
compass and set sail for the stars.
