Vietnam celebrates 120th birthday of its founder

Vietnam celebrated the 120th birthday of its founding father, Ho Chi Minh,
yesterday with an emphasis on the least Marxist elements of his legacy. At a
conference on Ho's contemporary relevance, the head of Vietnam's Diplomatic
Academy (formerly the Ho Chi Minh Political Academy) even invoked Ho's support

Nations for support for his newly declared independent Vietnamese government,
Professor Le Hung Nghia said, Ho wrote that "Vietnam arranges favourable
conditions for capitalist investment from all nations." It was a vision of Ho
that comports well with contemporary Vietnam's free-market economic ambitions.
