After some more investigation: This has nothing to do with the
toolchain; it comes from the host-autotools-automake package used in
the BSP itself. In case someone is interested and needs to patch
automake-1.11.1, the problem (and a fix) are described here:

Hello all,

The OSELAS Toolchain versions 2012.12.x use automake 1.11.1.

With this version of automake, and using perl 5.18.2 on the host,
every time aclocal is invoked the following error message is printed:

main::scan_file() called too early to check prototype at
platform-mini2440/sysroot-host/bin/aclocal line 617.

This can be checked easily by just invokingsysroot-host/bin/aclocal --version

Is this known?
