Sorry for stepping in here, but for people involved in this discussion, the
(first) Linked Startup Workshop at the upcoming ISWC 2016 would be a great
opportunity to talk about this and everything related to Linked Data
businesses/startups.
There is still some time left to submit (informal)

Dear all!
I would like to use the DBLP Sparql Endpoint at [1] to retrieve publications of
authors by REGEX Search. This, however, seems not to work as expected.

SELECT DISTINCT * WHERE {
?a a foaf:Agent .
?a foaf:name ?n .
FILTER regex(?n, '^a',

Peter

Hi for me seems to work, for example using instead:
SELECT DISTINCT * WHERE {
?a a foaf:Agent
these names via REGEX.

uhm, maybe some configuration limit on the server?
SELECT COUNT(?a)
WHERE {
?a a foaf:Agent .
?a foaf:name ?n
and String-functions only operate on a subset of
the endpoint, i.e. on authors starting with an A. Why it is like that, i
don't know.
Best,
Peter
