How about reusing gstreamer formats, so that adding a new format to PA makes it appear automagically in apps using GST (no need to recompile GST) ? Tempting as it is ;), we want to keep PA framework-agnostic. Also, in most cases, you will likely need to update pulsesink on the GStreamer
