Yes. Unfortunately, that seems to be the unfortunate truth of the Internet. Spammers are persistent, clever, and have no regard for your site. We shutdown Georgia Tech sites to off-campus traffic half a year ago, because of spammers like these. We even had one spammer who created an account on AniAniWeb to spread this kind of spam. It's amazing the length that people will go to. I would recommend to everyone on the list to password-protect your swiki sites. I believe it's necessary as spammers are becoming quite tricky. Peace and Luck!
