I've got it working. Not the most refined solution, but it works.
On initiating NVIZ from QGis I get an error window with a list of paths
where TCL can't be found.
I systematically went through the list and copied all the TCL/TK folders
that were being looked for pasted them into these

There are also SAGA ones to reproject both vector and raster. Reprojection
being a very common and important operation, maybe we should add some
native ones as well. Shouldn't be hard if QGIS has those capabilities
already.

Thanks Gerardo. I have now understood that that the hillshade values are
birghtness values of the pixels. Yes, I did use the scale value of 20.
My problem was partly due to incorrect installation of QGIS.

Profile tool is a plugin affected by an incompatibility of PyQwt5 with recent
PyQt versions. It needs to be fixed to use another graphing toolbox like
Matplotlib. Until then it will be broken in the current QGIS.
