A while back there was talk of the ability to use a USB floppy with QPC
etc. As I have recently had to purchase a USB Floppy from Amazon (£10
delivered!) I decided to test it out and see what's what.

On Linux, the drive plugs in and just works. It cannot read QL Floppies

Ah Ha I know this mod, search the web for this tinker on a Spectrum or ZX
Spectrum it should be found easily enough (I can't do it during the day as
BB is watching). If I remember rightly the at the end of the article/item it
suggest that the same mod could be done on a QL or any computer with

Any article sent to the Editor can be in electronic format, TXT, Word DOC,
QL DOC, if to duplicate or show screen output (i.e. text on the screen of a

In SBasic, the format flp1_TEST command works. (At least, using a 720 KB
disc it does.) However, it formats to 1.44 Mb rather than 720 KB and it's
noisy. There are no HD holes in the floppy - so maybe the drive is lying

Sounds quite doable even with the original QL.
Obviously the N-body problem requires the order of n^2 calculations per
iteration so the doable bit depends highly on the size of (n). I would maybe
recalculate the changes in Acceleration due to distant bodies less often as
this would change less.
Ahhh the power of Google:

even has a remake down load too!
