Evening Davide,
Which is the latest Norback version? Is the latest version the one available
on Dilwyjn web site?
Sorry, I don't know.
Is there an alternative backup program?
WinBack? Also available on Dilwyn's web site. It was written originally
to backup a Miracle Hard drive, but as long as the Qubide has the
file_type byte in the directory set to 255 for a directory, it should
work. Backups are not compressed but can be to another hard drive,
floppies (of any capacity or mixed) or to a network device.
Is there any utility to check for instance that the directory structure of a
Qubide HD is ok?
With WinBack there is a utility that builds a SuperBasic program that
will be used to recreate the current directory structure on any (new)
hard drive or prior to a restore - it was (and is?) better to create
your directories first and then load the files. If you ran that utility
and it completed then I'm sure it would probably be ok.
WinBack doesn't try to hold files in memeory - it copies each one to the
output device. Large files can be split over many floppies, for example,
but I would avoid it. Since SMSQ came on the scene there have been
problems with files that have CHR$(0) and CHR(1) in their names and the
file splitting part of WinBack used this.
HTH
Cheers,
Norman.
