In the UK a gallon of water (8 pints) weighs 10 Lb exactly. Thus, one UK pint
is 20 Ounces in weight - hence 20 FlOz.

In the US a pint of water will be exactly 1 Lb or 16 FlOz.

Interesting how this little saying Americans use to remember the relationship
would not work in some places of the world:

  A pint's a pound, the world around

If drinking beer by the pint I definitely favor the British system.
Me too, but the US does a very good beer now, even if it isn't a _real_
pint (8-)#

I still have a glass bought from the Windsor Harpoon brewery - and they
have wide range of very British tasting beers, even if a mite cold.

According to Oscar Wilde the British have everything in common with the
Americans except the language. A typical Wilde exaggeration, of course, but
perhpas he has a point..

Hi Dilwyn,

I suspect (unless this doesn't work on Ralf's system) that he may have
seen the 'First day of week (0=sunday, 6=saturday)' prompt and not
realised he could enter any number in that range - 1 for monday, 2 for
tuesday and so on. Option 3 does not allow you to specify start day at
all, since it's a one line per day format always starting on first of
the month whatever day that is.

Grmpff, haven't tried that, sorry.

you should remind, that the start of the week in Germany is at a monday. The

I don't know about Germany but the week starts on Sunday in Greece (The
translation of the word Monday in Greek means Second Day) as well.
In the USA they accept as end of the week Monday.

I thought the whole of Europe had the week starting on Sunday. Mind you
that is not work week but Calendar Week.

I have always been surprised about this. We are christian countries, and
the bible says (genesis) on the first days., the seventh day was a
day of rest.
So this would mean (as sunday is the rest day) that monday is the first
day of the week. Now I would expect jews to start the week on sunday as
sabbath (their rest day) is on saturday...

Actually the Sabbath is the rest day (which corresponds with Saturday). So
it follows that Sunday is the first day of the week.
I did some research and found (thanks for free GPRS access on the weekends
;-) this page: url: http://webexhibits.org/calendars/week.html.

There I found that per international standard Monday is the first day of
the week, however NOT for religious purposes. If you are a practicing
Christian or Jew theoretically at least your first day is Sunday. (Hence
why the name of Monday in Greek means Second)

but not for the US (which seem to see thereselves as a separete part of the
