Sorry Dilwyn - and everyone not on broadband yet. I'm afraid I have no control
over the file sizes for dlls and stuff. I suppose I could have used Microsoft
Visual (not) C++ to build the application as the support files for Windows are
actually (and sneakily) supplied with Windows, so all you have to supply is the
application. This is how MS get off with saying that their compiler produces
smaller code than 'the opposition' - or Borland as it was known. Cheating again
!

However, when statically linked, the application is actually bigger (I've got
no idea why) than the current size of the app plus the support files. I think
it was about 5Mb (uncompressed) when statically linked.

At least you've got over the initial 'hump' as it were and only have the4 small
dowloads from here on in. I'll try to not upgrade the QT system for a while to
prevent having to do the big stuff again!

Cheers,
Norman.

Hi Norman,

Do you think that QT4 could be ported to run on a SMSQ/E system.

Morning Derek,

possibly !

QT4 is open source under certain conditions and available for a number of
platforms. It is written in C++ so whatever system it is being ported to would
need a C++ compiler.

There's a hell of a lot of source code too.

Cheers,
Norman.

Hi Norman,

There is no C++ compiler on SMSQ/E, the object code would have to cross
compiled.

Unless a C++ compiler could be done for SMSQ/E

Derek

Any chance to accept t91 files ?

Certainly - if you have the file format for a t91 file I should be able to
build a plugin to extract the text. However, I don't have T91 anywhere to be
able to test it.

Have sent a couple of docs privately in t91 format for you to try.

Unfortunately, even the QL Documentation CD doesn't have Text 87 file
format info AFAIK.

I seem to remember that one of Geoff Wicks's programs (Style Check?)
is able to read text 87 files, might be worth asking Geoff.

Certainly, if anyone has the _t91 file format information, it might be
worth adding it to the QL Documentation CD.

I've also sent a useful routine someone (Geoff again?) sent me for
Windoze/QL character set translation I used in my little TidyUp
program.

I didn't want to post them here as the text 87 ones would be
attachments and the character set conversions are a bit long.

Hi Norman,

Thank you for QStripper. I have already fed it with half a dozen of QL
Quill docs and it does what it is supposed to do and it is fast and easy
to use.
I noticed only one weekness: it is not very good with special
characters (éçàâä) ... and most of my Quill docs are in French and
Dutch :(

It would be nice to have a QStripper that would do the same job for
Quill docs in PC format.

I'am sure QStripper will be success!
