For better performance, check out cyclog from djb's daemontools.

suggestion: use virtualdomains to deliver _all_ mail (for that domain
anyway) to a maildir, and then deliver this via serial[sq]mtp to your
primary MX.

I use QMTP. The only QMTP client is serialqmtp, part of serialmail.
