Hi quadlisters!
I'm new round here, hope I've come to the right place. I've been playing with
compact Macs up till now (SE/30 Classic II). However, a recent charity shop
trip yielded an LC475 for $5, and I gave way. This was primarily because my 12
year old son went dumpster diving (I've

As long as you keep the Mac application in an archive until it gets to the
Mac, and un-compress it on the Mac, it doesn't matter whether you downloaded
it on a PC or a Mac or a Commodore 64.
I have found that it is much more reliable to change the file

being tossed at work. They are all 16MByte, 5V, FPM, 2k refresh, at 60nS. That's
a total of 128M, which, if it was on four SIMMs, I would put in my home PC, but
that's only got four slots.

I do believe a 9150 can use eight 72-pin SIMMs.
And, if that's true, then an 8100 probably can as well, as a 9150 is an
extension of an 8100.
But, I've never owned an 8100, although I own and use three 9150s.
Thanks for the info. Silly me, after I asked the
Being the cheapskate that I am, I bought two Apple 15 Multiscans this weekend.
One from charity shop for $2.50 and the other from yard sale for $3.00.
Untested, but I thought I should be able to make one good one from two :-)

just going to be thrown out- so I grabbed them.
They all turn on and work, but they have
newer OS and it seemed (to me at least) that they ran
slower than the 800.
I've been dabbling in PPC's for the

The big thing though is the PPCs will surf at the same speed as the
Quadras running the latest and greatest browsers. So you get better
compatibility.
Hum... I was using iCab in both cases - one the ppc version the other 68K. So I
got compatibility that way :-)

Better - there's a thing called MIX, which I have also used on windows - and
there's apparently a 68k mac port. It is produced by http://www.microimages.com,

Hi all,
I've got a Quadra 950, and recently found a DayStar Digital accelerator in
it's box, with a couple of manuals and what appears to be a set of 7.5
install disks. I can't find any disk that looks like accelerator s/w so I
think it must be missing. Am I right? What do I need? Can I download
