It may be my eyes playing trick on me, but I can't seem to find functions that do the "nearest neighbor method" and the "variable kernel method" for kernel smoothing and density estimation corresponding to the book: Silverman, B.W., (1986) "Density Estimation for Statistics and Data Analysis".
