[RDA-L] Home country rule

2013-11-20 Thread Seth Huber
Hi all, Does anyone have any best practices with the home country rule from AACR2, which has not carried over into RDA? I have seen it both ways in records from various sources; some people follow the RDA rule of only giving the first named, and others follow AACR2 rules. What are others doing

In RDA there is no home country rule to follow. Either record just the first place, or record all of the places. Any other practice would lead us back to records that aren’t completely compatible or shareable internationally, because agencies in different countries would not produce the same

Trina, This is one of the most logical, clear, direct explanation of a concept in RDA that I have ever heard or read. I know this is a simple thing for most people, but for some of us struggling to understand and implement these new rules, either because we don't actually get to use it every

I do have a - (ooh, almost said final) - question related to this exchange. What does RDA require when the place of publication on the title page is like this: Cambridge, Massachusetts, and London, England. Both in $a, just as they are, including and, or two $a's, one for each city? Karen

I have been asked to catalog a special issue of a serial as a monograph. I have done this in the past, but my record in OCLC was changed by a member library, so I thought I would ask to see how others would do this. In this case that this issue is a special issue is noted on the table of
