Baked Beans
Long cooking develops that old-fashioned flavor.
1 lb. navy beans
1/2 lb. bacon ends
1 med. onion (quartered)
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. molasses
2 tsp. dry mustard
2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 tbsp. vinegar
2 c. hot water
Soak beans overnight in 6 cups water; add 1/4 teaspoon

Baked Beans
4 slices bacon
3 Tbsp drippings
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 16-ounce cans pork and beans in tomato sauce 2 Tbsp brown sugar
2 Tbsp catsup
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp prepared mustard.
Cook bacon until crisp. Remove bacon, reserving about three tablespoons
drippings in skillet.

1 medium green pepper, chopped

1 can (31 ounces) pork and beans
1 can (16 ounces) kidney beans, rinsed and drained

2 cans red chili beans (Ranch style beans), drained
18 oz. bottle barbecue sauce
3 to 4 strips bacon (optional)
