Just wondering, does anyone know of a mainstream PC retailer that has linux
as an operating system choice? I always thought it would be nice to get some
pre-configured machines and all from Dell, Gateway, etc. Normally, I'd build
my own, but for a business, I'd like to have the hardware support.
Hi all, first let me apologize for my 3rd post about ProFTPD. I know this is
a RH list, but there is a lot less flaming here :), and I think the problem
might be with my system too. Well, I'm running RH 7.0 on P3 450, 256Mb,
fully patched up :)
Anyways, I was wondering if any of you guys use
Hi all, I am trying to do a little ISP-like experiement and host a few
domains on my box. I've set up apache, but now I need to deal with giving
the users access to their files. Now, I've tried proftpd, but thats a

Sorry for the question, but how do you get proFTPd working with
xinetd.conf? I just moved from 6.2 to 7, and didn't realize the
difference.
Also, it looks like you have the choice to used either the xinetd.conf or
the old inetd.conf. Is there an actual benefit useing the xinetd.conf?
Thanks all,
I'm sure you caught the news from /. that RH downsized . . . Now, I hate
to sound pessimisstic, but do you guys believe that RH will be able to
continue pumping out quality releases and service? I don't really want to
jump ship, but I do want to use a distro thats going to be around for a
while.
Just wondering, has anyone heard anything about the 2.4 kernel in relation
to the next version of redhat? (7.1, I'm assuming . . .) The kernel itself
is supposed to be released stable by mid-December, right? Do you think RH
will produce a new distro for the release of the new kernel?
I was just wondering, which of the two email servers do people enjoy? I've
read a bit on qmail and it looks pretty good, but I'm not sure how people
respond to postfix? This is to run about 3,000 or so email accounts. BTW,
this is my first email server I'm running, so I'm hoping either of the two
