An atheist advocacy group sued the
Utah Highway Patrol and Utah Department of Transportation on Thursday seeking
the removal of large steel cross memorials from state property that honor
troopers killed in the line of duty.

MONTGOMERY,
Ala. (AP) Larry E. Darby, founder of the Atheist Law Center, announced
Monday that he will run for state attorney general as a Democrat
Kansas Prof. Paul Mirecki, whose scheduled, then cancelled,
course opposing Creationism, was discussed on this list a few days ago,
reported this morning that he was physically attacked by two men who mentioned
his proposed course during the attack. I have a posting on the incident on my
