I am currently running a 6 meter repeater using a Midland 70-055C
transceiver as a receiver.

Anyone familiar with this transceiver will know that the receiver
requires a LO signal (approx 62 mhz) from the main VCO. The main VCO
is located on the transmitter board (which is fairly large board in
comparison to the receiver board).

I would like to eliminate the neccesity of have to use the transmitter
board altogether, and need to come up with a simple crystal oscillator
circuit to generate the 62 mhz LO.

It just so happens that a Motorola Mitrek VHF receive channel element
will work within the 62 mhz range. So I have decided simply to install
my LO crystal inside the element, and connect the output of the element
directly to the Midland receiver board (eliminating the need for the
transmitter board).

But I can't seem to make the Mitrek channel element to work "stand-
alone". I've gounded Pin 1, and applied 9 volts to Pin 3, and I've
brought Pin 4 low (ground)to enable the element. But with a scope
connected to Pin 2, I see no output ?

Can anyone shed light onto this for me ? Do I need to add a tank
circuit at Pin 2 ? Or do I have the pin-out all wrong ? Is there some
secret I'm missing ?

I've tried multiple elements (just in case I had a defective one) to no
avail.

Thanks in advance ...
