Don't want to
start over and re-backup the entire disk, nor start a new set just to
grab this file, but I'm stumped.
Well, you could always add a character to the end of the name. RS should
see a change in it and back it up.

or as much time as you may initially think.
One full run on a fresh tape(s) will help you to gauge your needs better.
IMO, backing up is more than "how many tapes do I need to buy to fit all
my data on a full backup". It is a strategy.
Hope this helps,
Pam
Pam Lefkowitz,
I'm experiencing similar behavior between an PowerMac G3 (platinum) server
and a G4 client.

Any fresh ideas out there?
Hiya Phil,
Have you installed the ethernet update (and maybe the firmware update)
for the G4?

After the client reboots, it suddenly doesn't work, unless i stopstart
the Retrospect Client service on the 2000 machine after it boots.
Hi Martjin,
It sounds like you're backing up via static IP addresses but the clients
are running on DHCP. Therefore, when they reboot they'll have a new IP

What I'd suggest that if someone is restoring,
there should be a few alerts (or at least a couple of BLINK type
messages) that it could be incomplete. Also, it would be useful if it
could be indicated in the backup set list some sort of incomplete
icon for a missing set, plus a text message.
Thanks for your reply. Why yes, I did order this G4 this summer. I'm
forgetting what "MP" stands for, though. At any rate, I'm curious as to
what the "known issues" you refer to are. I did read the Apple TIL #25147

Is there a way to do restore a client's Win2K registry from Retro 4.2 Mac?

Andrew,
Is there any chance at all that you used Dantz' Registry Backup Manager?

So Retrospect reports errors that it finds in the network setup that
doesn't affect ANYTHING else? If these errors existed then why does
nothing else complain?

I recently bought a FireREX firewire to SCSI converter in the hopes
of using my Exabyte 8700 LT (8mm) tape drive with out new iMac.
I've tried just about everything I can to get this to work, but with no luck.
Has anyone set up a similar system, or is this just not going to work?
Hi Jeff,

Same SCSI card, same cable,
same tapes (tried several), very similar computer, same OS,
same version of Retrospect; the only thing that seems to be
different is the location of the drive.
Is it possible that you don't have an up to date ATTO driver installed?

I've noticed that Ecrix is coming out with
larger tape libraries, Does anyone think that will make it a more viable
solution or is AIT still the way to go?
Hi Tim,
Ecrix has tape libraries (they call them autopacks) already in service.
And VXA-2 is right around the corner. AIT is a great

difference in my backup integrity, it is frustrating and annoying
