To be honest I wrote this patch to promote my scrollstrip patch (g#786)
and give it - or rather it's extension - a larger tester base.

Oh, cleaning up the compiler flags is definitely on my to-do list, but I
lack access to a sufficiently diverse set of targets to do much
benchmarking (or much general testing) myself.
I can test some of the PP targets: Samsung YH820 and YH925 (both
PP5020), Philips (PP5022 IIRC) and iPod Mini g

So. I'm not comfortable committing this toolchain bump without wider
testing of gcc494 builds on sh, m68k and various other native arm
targets (especially other portalplayer-based units!)
