After thinking really hard and long, the obvious and simple solution
of adding per-version configuration and helpers and ... in a per-version
directory seems best to me.
There are certainly other solutions. Feel free to suggest alternatives.
Meanwhile, I needed a solution, and there's certainly
On to disambiguating doco paths (all man pages are going to get a rpm
suffix), and the last remaining largish conflict I'm aware of is the
locale
domain (which is likely to become rpm5 unless I can think of a better
solution).
