Rsync Connection Fault Tolerance

Is there a rsync version or a way to make rsync tolerant of multiple disconnections during a large mirror copyboth large files large number of files. I seem to get better performance from wget than rsync...by the time rsync has gotten the list of files...connection drops and rsync gives error
