yes, moderation would be one solution. Another one would be to use Google's abuse reporting system, but unluckily it doesn't really work. Anyway, hoping that some day is will work, here's a way to use it: 1. click on the last link appearing in all messages signature:

2. open the "guilty" message, i.e.: http://groups.google.com/group/rubyonrails-spinoffs/browse_thread/thread/42d81b7df03cd115/b599d280e6394419?hl=en#b599d280e6394419 3. click "show options" link (right side, message "header") to expand "message options links" 4. click "report abuse" 5. select (usually already selected) "type of abuse: this post is spam". 6. submit form: click "report abuse". As I said, this should hopefully do it, but usually it doesn't :( On success, a page saying "Thanks for taking the time to report this abuse!" will appear, but usually it's just a "cannot find whatever message" or other errors like that. :(
