[S-Scale Modeling] FP-7 Couplers

2005-03-11 Thread Larry Langford
I just received an ABA set of FP-7's from American Models. The B unit had coupler pads on either end with predrilled holes for Kadee style couplers. I mounted a pair of SHS short body couplers without problem. However, the A units have talgo mounting and no pads. I don't see how a pad could be

Larry, American Models must have downgraded their AP-7's. I have two from the very first run and they have pads set up for the #5 coupler box, in fact Ron supplied them with the kits. The mounts are on both ends and are part of the zamac frame. Very interesting!! Bob Werre Larry

Larry, Very true from an EMD standpoint. However, when the Louisville Nashville merged with/absorbed the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis in 1957, the acquired B units all had steam generators (LN's did not) and were classified internally as FP7B until the generators were removed in later

I checked my ancient (cast metal truck frames) FP7 and found short pads on both ends of the floor casting that fit Kadee #5 couplers. I suggest you email Ron at [EMAIL PROTECTED] and ask what he recommends. It seems like one could build a pad of epoxied sheet styrene to mount your choice of

You might want to look at the mounting bracket that Don Thompson uses on his F3/7 units. Check out his part number 00588. They require a couple of screw holes be drilled in the frame but they come with the short shank coupler already mounted on them. Bill O. [Non-text portions of this

Hi All, I've got a pair of diecast trucks with a problem, they look like andrews style, they may be American models or perhaps SHS, I can't remember who I got them from. Maybe some of you experienced guys will recognize the description? They have a pin on the sideframes that goes down thru
