Ed,
Admittedly DCC Operated Couplers is not something that is viable on
everything you own. But it if was on a new locomotive I was considering on
buying it would really be a great gadget to use, especially for me because I
cut the wires off my couplers, and will not have any magnets on my

For general switching, yes it would be expensive, but if you pull your

would be adequatel. (Or even two locos that need to be split.)

Hi everyone:
This week's progress includes loading a 53' flat car with Farmall tractors. I'm
really pleased with how this project turned out. You can read about it on my

Trevor,
I agree with everything you've said. I use HO Sergents for Sn2 and I'll use
them when they're available RTR in standard gauge. In the mean time, I use
Prot Max couplers because they uncouple flawlessly with a KD coupler pic and
they're larger than #5s.

Trevor,
Nice work with that flatcar. As you indicate the floor of some of the
SHS flats certainly looks like plastic. Most of the latter versions
were much better. Since there is such a small side area to weather, the
deck is the place to do that and those decks get all the weather effects

All I will use is a coupler pick also, I'm not going to mess with magnetics.
Remember a coupler used in the 40s and 50s that a had bronze wire that stuck
toward the side, and the knuckle was a thin piece of brass on it's edge.
Squeezing the two wires toward each other opened the knuckles.

I am collecting interest for S-Scale Retaining Walls. These will be patterned

I was afraid to try and drill out the stake pockets on the metal
