I believe China no longer manufactures steam locos in 1:1 scale, but did so
into the 1990s. If I recall the Trains article correctly, the locos shipped to
North American tourist operations were built new for the buyers. One did end
up at the bottom of the ocean when the ship delivering it

Tornado class 4-6-2. It hit 75 mph on it's maiden run. Gotta love the
British. There were 50 original engines and I think this was added to the

FYI, a Mack B series truck has been done in 1:64. I believe it was Ertl which
did a semi trailer truck in their farm series some years back. I don't know if
they used the cab for anything other than a highway tractor, but it would be
easy to convert the chassis.

Take a closer look Bill. The Mini Metals are expressly built for the model RR
market , are better detailed...more uniform in scale...don't have the awful
opening doors and hoods so common to the toy-driven 1:64 market. Mini Metals
also have a much wider variety of typical 40s and 50s era
Since I enjoy building structures, here's what I'd like to see. More typical
50s-vintage structure details. Electric meters, power drops, clothesline
pulleys, TV antennaes, rural screen doors, window shutters and the art moderne
front doors one saw on houses in the 50s and 60s. Some
