I still have a problem with my Samba installation. Userprofiles don't work under W2K
SP4. They work fine with Windows NT 4. When loggin on for the first time the user
profile directory is created. After loggin off however no data is written to the
profile directory on the Samba PDC.

wbinfo -t reports back that the trust secret via RPC call succeeded

there. I do use nis, however, this server is the nis master. I know if the
password is changed via passwd, it changes the nis password correctly. I'm
using passwd as the passwd program and have confirmed the password chat.

I have installed samba 2.2.8 on my linux rh 9. with Openldap rmps. I am
trying to setup a PDC server using Samba with ldap as the backend. The samba
server can not connect to the ldap server. I am getting the following error
when I run any smb commands:
LDAPS option set...!
Did you specify the LDAP administrator to bind as in smb.conf? I believe the option
line is ldap admin dn, but you should double check that. Then you also have to
store the admin's password in the secrets.tdb file with a smbpasswd -w adminpw
command. That's what fixed the problem for me.
I am running Samba 3beta3 as a PDC with LDAP. I am confused as to which accounts
are required by a PDC.
I was under the assumption that it was like an NT domain: the administrator and
guest accounts were the only required accounts.
But when I create the accounts and try to do anything

/etc/profile and /etc/fstab combined to automatically mount and unmount drives per
