Hello,
samba v3.0.7 on suse linux v9.1
os/2 v4.x
I have started the process of replacing our os/2 hosts with linux,
starting with the server(s). Most of the problems have been firewall
related, a topic only briefly discussed in the docs (nudge).
Some of the hosts can now interact with
since the 3.0.7 upgrade. If anyone has a known to work config, could you
share your set up info please?
The system has a 2.4.21 kernel with xfs filesystems. It is a redhat 9
machine on IBM hardware with a large FC attached array connected via a
qla2300.

Does a firewall normally mess with arp?
In a typical setup, yes. Layer 3 devices usually will not forward arps
(or any broadcast traffic for that matter) received on an interface out
the others. You would have to use proxy arping on the firewall or
similar if you required this to happen.
I have but not enough time has passed to make the determination if it
solves the problem or not. I'm collecting information just in case. I
still would like to know what is considered a solid setup for a samba
server. kernel version, file system type, anything which would be
considered,
I was wondering if anyone has tried compiling Samba-3.0.7 on FreeBSD 5.2.1.

Hi Igor,
I got stuck now. I did my best. I got stuck at the winbind which I suspected is the
reason why the domainA_computer cannot map the domain_B user's home directory.
1. What are the settings of your winbind?
2. Do you use only winbind in your libnss_ldap or use ldap as well?
3. My

How familiar are you with FreeBSD? Here are some tips about
FreeBSD and Samba:

Over here I'm using:
add machine script = /usr/sbin/useradd -c Machine -d /dev/null \
-g machines -s /bin/false %u
It works for me, though currently still using local UNIX Samba databases.
Don't know why you have to use %u seeing as %m is the NetBIOS machine name
but it works.

I am setting up a suse linux v9.1 host to provide file and print

a problem. I am running into difficulty getting the os/2 clients to see

The main problem is the firewall.
