Samba is too technical for a guy like me. I find it hard to configure
my standalone samba server to respect the SAMBA PDC. From the
documentation i need to install winbind and all those highly technical

all I get is access denied - even if I own the file.

Smbpasswd -j DOMAIN is no longer the way to join a Windows domain
instead one needs to use net join. However, net utility, although it's a
part of Samba release, is not present on the system. Samba was installed
using rpm packages. Here is what's on the system:
samba-3.0.9-1.3E.1
I upgraded from 3.0.11 to .13. Samba shares are working fine. But swat
interface won't accept my root password. I renamed swat.old to
swat(3.0.11 version) and it seems to be working again.
